Kurmi caste comes under OBC. Farming has been chief profession of this caste. There are many villages around Seoni inhabited by people of kurmi caste (Sanodiyas). Many Kurmi youths have got government jobs as the result of reservation. We - I also belong to this caste - are getting reservation because we are educationally and socially backward. But the banner seems to suggest that we are no longer backward. Now we all have become Kshatriya.
In my opinion, next time we have any such gathering, we must pass a resolution demanding reclassification of our caste. As we all have become Kshatriya, we must be in General category. We don't need reservation; Our youths now belong to The Warrior Clan. Reservation is for the humble farmer, not for warriors. And if Government doesn't accept our demand, we must be ready to take radical steps to achieve our goal.
